The Room 4: Old Sins is the fourth installment in a series of adventure games called The Room. In terms of both plot and setting, the game should be seen more as a by-product. The game described here was developed by Finnish Fireproof Games, known for creating previous installments in The Room series, and the Omega Agent for Virtual Reality headgear.

The Room 4: Old Sins does not develop the story where it was left in the previous installments. The developers decided to write a completely new chapter, which is still based on the same principles as the previous ones. Players again face a new puzzle; however, this time it is about the disappearance of the engineer and his wife, as well as their alleged discovery of an ancient artifact. Players must find consistent clues and decipher encrypted messages. The game takes place in the house of an engineer.

Gameplay

In terms of game mechanics, The Room 4: Old Sins does not reinvent the wheel – the player can still visit closed locations where he or she can manipulate a variety of objects in search of clues and items needed to advance the story. The riddles often boil down to controlling small and surprising machines. Their correct use leads the player to the final decision. In search of clues, players can use the appropriate viewfinder. However, the developers have diversified the gameplay by adding new mechanics and special items that can help you in your investigation.

Game features

Technically, The Room 4: Old Sins for AND and iOS is not much different from The Room Three. This, however, does not change the fact that players have an extremely interesting and well-designed game at their disposal, in which minimalistic 3D graphics are well compensated by complex riddles. Moreover, the developers have improved textures as well as lighting effects. Another strong advantage of the game is the realistic controls that perfectly simulate fiddling with various objects with traps, switches and secret compartments.

As with previous installments in the series, the PC version has been completely revamped in terms of graphics. The developers completely rebuilt the environment and objects in the game, as well as reloaded the lighting and textures. Thanks to this, the fourth part of the series looks much better on PC than the mobile version.
