Relying on classic survival horror games like Silent Hill and Resident Evil, in Eldervale you find yourself in the role of Ophelia Delaney, a young woman who is looking for answers about the disappearance of her mother and father. Your parents owned the Delaney Institute, a boarding school for “deviant” children.

At the age of seven, you contracted an unknown, seemingly incurable disease. But a rich stranger offered you a cure, but only if your parents appointed him director of the Institute. Soon, local children began to go missing, and soon the police accused your father of involvement in these events. You were immediately sent to live with your aunt and have not heard any news about your parents for the past 10 years. Now you are returning, looking for answers, feeling that something terrible has happened there, and that you played your part in it.

The current version of the game offers a large piece of gameplay, introducing you to Ophelia and a policeman named Daniel Caulfield. While researching the Institute, you find more background through newspaper clippings and notes, and also discover some pretty terrible sights.

The gameplay in Eldervale fondly recalls the early Resident Evil games, where you explore creepy places, find secrets, solve puzzles and fight zombie-like monsters. But here, a third-person view is used, not the static angles of the camera, but in general the controls are quite similar, which makes each meeting with a monster a very dangerous event.

Eldervale offers polished and very atmospheric old-school survival horror gameplay. If you want to play old-school horror, then Eldervale is right for you. There is everything here – an intriguing plot, bizarre monsters, complicated combat, puzzles and many locked doors with dark secrets behind them.
