Batora: Lost Haven

Batora: Lost Haven is a sci-fi RPG that combines hack’n’slash with mechanics typical of top-down shooters. This is another game from the catalog of Stormind Games, an independent studio formerly known for its survival horror series based on the iconic Clock Tower. The game’s storyline revolves around a cataclysm that destroyed most of the Earth and robbed only sixteen-year-old Avril. However, the heroine also gained access to powerful forces that can help her save the dying planet. She embarks on a dangerous journey and learns the fine line between good and evil. In keeping with the hack’n’slash style, we observe the action in isometric view, and the game is dedicated to exploring locations and fighting hordes of enemies.

More about the game

In battles, we can use various material and mental powers. This dualism of body and mind is the axis of the gameplay, which is expressed, among other things, in the presence of two health bars. Enemies attack us both physically and mentally, and the loss of all mental or physical hit points equates to the death of Avril. Players must constantly switch between physical and mental modes in order to solve the challenges they face. The decisions of the protagonist Batora: Lost Haven play an important role. During meetings with representatives of different factions, Avril will have to choose whether she wants to solve the problem by force or rely on cunning. Each action has its own consequences and affects the fate of both the entire universe and its inhabitants.

Game features

Like previous works by Stormind Games, this is a single-player game. The authors did not provide for the opportunity to play with friends, even in cooperative mode. The developers chose a sci-fi retro style, presenting a vision of the future straight from the 1950s. During the game, we visit colorful planets full of interesting places and often no less intriguing inhabitants. The entire game is three-dimensional, from locations to character models and enemies, albeit hand-drawn by the developers.
